I live in south Florida.  My son in fifth grade went to Washington D.C. in February.  I bought him a pair of snowboarding gloves to keep his hands warm.  In fact we still have them, which is pretty unbelievable.  Gloves are usually hard to keep track of.  Anyway, he used the gloves during the Washington D.C. trip and then the next year he went for a visit with my brother in Colorado and was already set in the hands area for that trip.  Good gloves for cold weather makes all the difference.  It seems if your hands are cold, you are cold too.
